At our Champaign, IL practice, we’re excited to offer this high-quality dental treatment. The comfort, satisfaction, and convenience of our CEREC procedures utilize advanced technology to create and design restorations for our patients. We know time is precious, which is why we’ve invested in this revolutionary system to help us deliver exceptional results in a shorter time span.
The CEREC Process
The results of CEREC are quick and accurate and most commonly used to restore crowns, inlays, onlays, and veneers. Your dental restoration can be completed in as little as one hour at our Champaign dental office, that’s how quick the CEREC treatment is for your smile.
Our team will take a digital image of your teeth using CAD/CAM technology. Afterward, we design your new restoration using CEREC, which stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. This newly formulated layout will allow Dr. Martin to manufacture the ceramic crown within a few minutes right here in our office. From there, the process towards your beautiful smile begins.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long do CEREC crowns last?
CEREC crowns have the same functionality and durability of a traditional crown and will typically last between 10 to 15 years. To increase the longevity of your crown, you’ll want to:
- Schedule biannual visits and cleanings at our Champaign location
- Brush your teeth twice a day, floss daily, and rinse between meals
- Address any issues with teeth grinding
- Avoid using your teeth as tools
- Refrain from biting into hard objects and foods
What is the average cost of a CEREC crown?
The cost is typically between $500 to $1,500. The price can vary depending on your insurance benefits and the details of the procedure. For an accurate estimate, we recommend contacting your insurance provider for any questions regarding your specific coverage.
If there are any questions we can answer, don’t hesitate to call our office at (217) 355-9997 and one of our helpful team members will be happy to assist you.
How long do same-day crowns take?
Unlike traditional crowns that take at least two appointments lasting about 90 minutes each, CEREC same-day crowns only take one appointment lasting two to three hours. You’ll have some free time while the CEREC machine mills your new crown, so you may want to bring something to do. At the end of your appointment, you’ll leave our office with your new permanent crown.
Why are CEREC crowns better than traditional crowns?
With CEREC crowns, there’s less drilling and preparation of your tooth, therefore more of your natural tooth is preserved. The advanced CEREC technology allows our dentists to customize your crown so it fits perfectly. You’ll also receive the crown in one appointment, so your tooth will be protected against decay and injury.
Traditional crowns typically take two appointments to complete. If there’s a temporary crown placed, there are several precautions you’ll have to follow to ensure the crown will last a few weeks until your permanent crown arrives.
CEREC mitigates the risks of this vulnerable period so you can enjoy beautiful results after just one appointment.
