The Invisible Alternative to Braces
Do you have crooked teeth but don’t want to have painful metal brackets and wires in your mouth for an extended period of time? Invisalign is a discreet way to straighten your teeth in half the time of braces. This cosmetic treatment consists of a series of clear aligners that gradually shift your teeth over time.
Invisalign is great for people with crooked or gapped teeth, and can even be used to correct an overbite or underbite. Since they’re practically invisible, people will likely not even know you’re wearing them.
The Invisalign Process
Invisalign is custom created to fit each patient’s specific needs. The process starts with a consultation with Dr. Martin where he’ll evaluate your mouth, give you a cost estimate, and tell you how long you’ll have to wear your aligners. During this time, he’ll also take digital impressions of your teeth with our advanced technology.
Once your trays are ready, you’ll come back to our office to receive your first set, or you can have them mailed to you directly. Each pair of aligners should be worn for one to weeks before you switch to the next pair. You’ll receive a new batch of aligners about every to six to eight weeks before receiving the next one to ensure they’re straightening your teeth effectively.
Invisalign allows you more freedom than traditional braces because you’ll be able to eat and drink as you please. While it’s fine to remove them while you eat or attend special events, we recommend wearing them for at least 20 to 22 hours per day. This will ensure they’re effective and deliver you with flawless results.
The Difference Between Invisalign and 100% Online Aligners
While Invisalign is the number one clear aligner brand, other companies have created their own version. These knock-off brands such as Smile Direct Club offer a 100 percent online service and allow you to complete the entire process without visiting a dentist.
However, having a professional orthodontist evaluate your teeth before receiving treatment is a crucial part of the process. If your aligners are even slightly off, they cause your teeth to become worse and have negative effects on your oral health.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does Invisalign hurt?
You may feel slight discomfort when you first start wearing your aligners, but this feeling will quickly go away within a day or two.
Is Invisalign covered by insurance?
The coverage of your treatment depends on your insurance plan. Each provider may cover a different amount of the cost. Contact us or your insurance company directly to get exact coverage details.
How do you clean and maintain your Invisalign trays?
You can purchase a special Invisalign solution to clean your aligners, or you can clean them with gentle toothpaste and a toothbrush.
Can I remove my braces and get Invisalign?
If you already have braces but would like to switch to Invisalign, talk to Dr. Martin to see if this is possible. You’ll most likely be able to transition to aligners, but this depends on the current state of your mouth.
Is Invisalign removable?
Invisalign consists of a set of removable clear aligners, but we recommend wearing them for at least 20 to 22 hours a day.
How long does the Invisalign treatment take?
Some people will need to wear their aligners for a longer period of time than others, but the treatment usually takes 6 to 18 months to straighten your teeth.
What can’t I drink and eat while wearing Invisalign?
Invisalign allows you total freedom to eat and drink whatever you please, but we recommend taking out your aligners while doing so.
Can you drink alcohol while wearing Invisalign?
The only thing you should eat or drink while wearing Invisalign should be water, but you can take them out if you want to consume alcohol.
Can you drink coffee while wearing Invisalign?
Since coffee can stain your aligners, we recommend taking them out while drinking it.
